After turning left at the source of the Gljun creek we will undertake a 20 minute walk after which we will arrive at the entrance to a 704 meter system of underground caves. Waters have patiently created this landscape over hundreds of thousands of years. The cave system has two entrances, 63 vertical meters from each other and during heavy rains, when access is blocked, there is a beautiful waterfall that falls into a deep abyss. During these torrential rains, the cave turns into a water source and sprays water from the Kanin mountain range. The main attractions of this cave system are heart shaped fossil formations, megalontids, which decorate the dolomite limestone walls. Due to its relatively easy access, Srnica is perfectly located for an introductory meeting with the underground world and within her hidden bowels you will find proof of the history of our planet.
